Vizag New Glass Skywalk: India’s Longest Glass Bridge Offering Mesmerizing Views of Bay of Bengal and Eastern Ghats

Visakhapatnam, popularly known as Vizag, is preparing to welcome tourists with its latest architectural and tourism marvel—the Vizag New Glass Skywalk, which has already become a talking point across the country. Built atop the scenic Kailasagiri Hills, this glass bridge is now officially the longest of its kind in India. Combining adventure with stunning panoramas, it promises to be an unforgettable experience for visitors who wish to witness the magic of the Bay of Bengal, the Eastern Ghats, and the sparkling city lights of Vizag all at once.

The upcoming attraction has already received nationwide attention even before its official launch. Industrialist Anand Mahindra shared images of the structure on social media, describing it as “absolutely stunning.” However, with a touch of humour, he confessed that he might skip the experience because of his “complicated” relationship with heights. This excitement and curiosity surrounding the Vizag New Glass Skywalk only add to its charm, making it a highly anticipated travel destination.

The Skywalk Experience

The glass bridge extends an impressive 55 metres out from the Kailasagiri Hills, perched 862 feet above the ground and 1,000 feet above sea level. Located near the famous Titanic viewpoint, the skywalk offers an exhilarating walk among the clouds. While it may not compete in size with international marvels like China’s Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, which stretches 430 metres, Vizag’s creation stands proud with a dramatic vertical drop of 262 metres. The sensation of standing on transparent glass with the landscape beneath makes for a thrilling experience that is bound to test even the bravest of adventurers.

Safety has been carefully prioritized in the construction of this marvel. Built with German-engineered tempered laminated glass, the walkway uses three layers of 40 mm-thick panels supported by 40 tonnes of robust steel. Capable of withstanding wind speeds of up to 250 kmph and supporting a load of 500 kg per square metre, the Vizag New Glass Skywalk assures visitors of complete safety while offering the thrill of walking above the void. To maintain safety standards, only 40 visitors will be allowed at a time, with a time slot of 5–10 minutes for each group. Entry fees are expected to be reasonably priced between ₹250 and ₹300, ensuring accessibility for both Indian and international tourists.

The Makers of the Marvel

This ambitious project is the outcome of a partnership between SSM Shipping & Logistics from Vizag, Bharat Mata Ventures of Kerala—best known for the Vagamon Glass Bridge—and the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA). By surpassing Vagamon’s 38-metre glass bridge, the Vizag New Glass Skywalk takes pride as India’s longest skywalk, setting new standards for adventure tourism in the country.

What Awaits Visitors

The experience promises much more than just walking on glass. Visitors will be treated to 360-degree panoramic views that capture the crashing waves of the Bay of Bengal, the green expanse of the Eastern Ghats, and the dazzling cityscape of Vizag. The attraction blends adrenaline with serenity, offering heart-pounding excitement when stepping onto the glass panels, followed by peaceful reflection while gazing at the horizon. For photography enthusiasts and social media users, the walkway is set to become an Instagram-worthy hotspot, creating picture-perfect moments that highlight both thrill and beauty.

One of the most captivating aspects of the attraction is its planned night-time illumination. The glass skywalk will glow in Tricolour-themed lights after sunset, transforming the structure into a radiant jewel on Kailasagiri Hills. This will not only enhance the evening skyline of Vizag but also create an inviting destination for night-time tourism.

A Symbol of Pride for Vizag

The Vizag New Glass Skywalk is more than just a tourist attraction; it is a symbol of the city’s progress, creativity, and spirit. With its mix of cutting-edge engineering, spectacular views, and affordable access, it is poised to become a landmark that will draw travellers from all parts of India and the world. As the city of destiny adds this shining new gem to its list of attractions, Vizag is set to solidify its reputation as one of India’s most exciting coastal destinations.
