Significance
Hindus all across India worship Maa Durga and her nine avatar forms. The nine forms of Maa Durga, also known as Shakti, and Maa Katyayani, are honoured on the 6th day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Katyayani. She is known to be the fiercest form of Maa Durga, appearing as a warrior goddess who was born to destroy demon Mahishasur, the demon utterly. In this form, Goddess Parvati is also known as Warrior Goddess.

Maa Katyayani is a symbol of Shakti called strength. She stands for knowledge, the victory over evil. She is a prominent Goddess in Hinduism and is a symbol of unique power to female devotees. She inspires women to face challenges, fight for their rights for what is right and believe in their inherent strengths.
Goddess Katyayani rides on the magnificent lion and is depicted with four hands. It is believed that the planet Brihaspati is governed by Goddess Katyayani. Goddess Katyayani carries a lotus flower and sword in her left hand. She keeps her right hand in Abhay and Varda Mudra.
According to religion, Goddess Parvati was born in sage Katya’s home; this form of Goddess Parvati is known as ‘Katyayani’. Maa Katyayani is the Goddess who has the power to bestow boons to young women for a happy married life. In fact, in the Bhagavata Purana, there is a mention of Katyayani Vrata. The young women would bathe in the Yamuna River and worship Maa Katyayani.
This Vrata was to be observed in the month of Margashira as they prayed for Lord Krishna as their husband. Women keep this Vrata for a month-long period to appease the Goddess.

The colour of the day on the sixth day of Navratri is grey. It represents balanced emotions and keeps the person down-to-earth. Devotees can wear this colour on this day to achieve all these qualities.
Bhog:
On Day 6 of Navratri, devotees seek the blessings of Goddess Katyayani, the sixth avatar of Maa Durga, by offering honey as a special bhog.
Timing:
This year, the sixth day of Navratri falls on Saturday, October 1. According to Drik Panchang, the Brahma Muhurta on this day begins at 04:37 am and ends at 05:25 am. The Abhijit Muhurat will start at 11:47 am and end at 12:34 pm, and Vijaya Muhurta will last from 02:09 pm and end at 02:57 pm. Additionally, the Ravi Yoga will be observed from 06:14 am to 03:11 am on October 2.
Significance:
Maa Katyayani governs the planet Brihaspati. She symbolizes intelligence and peace. It is said that the blessings of Goddess Katyayani can wash away the sins of the worshippers, remove opposing forces, and clear hurdles.
Additionally, on the day Maa Katyayani is worshipped during Navratri, unmarried girls keep a fast to get a husband of their choice.
