What to eat during fast if you are diabetic?


Fasting may not be a part of your daily routine, but it’s something that a lot of people do occasionally. For example, a lot of people fast during Sawan and Navratri. Well, fasting could be a task for people who have diabetes. In that case, you need special planning. You don’t want to risk lowering your blood sugar too much as it can seriously affect your health. According to health experts, there a few things that you should keep in mind while fasting if you have diabetes.

Check your Blood Sugar while fasting

You should frequently check your blood sugar while fasting. Monitoring your blood sugar can reduce the risk of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia (high blood sugar)

Eat a balanced meal after a fast

You can’t stay hungry for the entire day. Try to have a balanced meal after a fast.  The meal should have some complex carbohydrates and high fiber. Do not forget to drink plenty of fluids at that time.

Dark urine, a headache, and vomiting could be a sign of serious dehydration. If you observe any of these signs, you should stop fasting. Otherwise, you can fall seriously ill.
