Terrorist Killed In J&K’s Kulgam As Army Continues Operation Akhal

There is a way going on of a very big anti-terror operation, named as Operation Akhal, in the district of Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where one terrorist has been neutralized by the security forces. The operation that startedt late on Friday involves both the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The operation that was launched was organized on the basis of a particular information provided by intelligence based on location of terrorists in the Akhal forest region of Devsar.

As per the authorities, the security personnel conducted a cordon and search in the region. The operation became a gun fight as the terrorists in hiding fired at the troops that advance. The security personnel struck back and there was very high fire exchange of fire which went to up to the night. The development was confirmed by Chinar Corps of the Army on a social media platform, which said that one of the terrorists had been neutralised and the operation was underway.

It is not clear who this dead terrorist is or to which group he/she belonged. According to early reports, there is still a possibility of two or more terrorists stuck inside the cordon. To contain the area, there is high level of cordon maintained by the security forces to ensure that people are not able to escape with reinforcements hurried to the scene to help in the operation.

This is one of the occupations that have been increased in terms of counter-terrorism in the area. It comes hot on the heels of the other big achievements of the security personnel such as the two terrorists being killed in the Poonch attack and the three terrorists of the Pahalgam attack being neutralized.

The security establishment has been on high alert, with top officials recently visiting the region to review and recalibrate counter-terrorism strategies. ‘Operation Akhal’ is a clear indication of the forces’ commitment to flushing out militants and maintaining peace and stability in the Union Territory. The operation is a testament to the seamless coordination and synergy between the different security agencies operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
