And a few days ago, news spread like wildfire in the entertainment circle: television actress Dipika Kakar has been diagnosed with Stage 2 liver cancer. Shockwaves went through the show world and her fanbase, which has come together to extend support and prayers.
Dipika Kakar, an established name in shows like “Sasural Simar Ka” and winner of “Bigg Boss 12,” shared this awful news on social media, explaining her past few weeks. She said that initially, it started off as pain in the upper abdomen, followed by several medical procedures that helped find a “tennis ball-sized tumor” inside her liver, which was confirmed to be malignant at Stage 2.
Her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, has been quite a source of strength throughout, giving us all updates through his vlogs and social media posts. He was the first to tell about the discovery of a liver tumor, then proceeded with heavier news on the Stage 2 diagnosis. Both Dipika and Shoaib have expressed a positive attitude and very defiantly highlighted their unwillingness to let go of this challenge peacefully.
Usually, Stage 2 liver cancer means the tumor is more than 2 cm in size and has grown into blood vessels or there may be multiple tumors within the liver that are all less than 5 cm, but cancer has not yet spread to the lymph nodes or faraway sites.
Treatment for Stage 2 liver cancer can involve the surgical resection of the affected portion of the liver, the surgical removal of the liver (liver transplant, if eligible and donor allows), or localized treatment- ablative surgery (using heat or cold weather to destroy cancer cells) or chemoembolization (injecting the chemotherapy to the tumor and cutting the blood supply to it)
Dipika’s surgery was scheduled to surgically remove the tumor but was postponed due to Dipika suffering from fever and congestion in the chest cavity. While postponing her surgery was an agreement with Dipika for overall health, it also brought another level of anxiety for Dipika and her family. The positive indication was that the report from the PET scan indicated that the cancer was only in the tumor and not going to any other area in the body.

Despite all of the emotional challenges, Dipika Kakar has appeared very strong and positive, and every one of Dipika’s social updates appears to convey she is very thankful for all the love and prayers for strong/positve healing which has gone out to her. In times like these, it reminds us that health challenges cannot be predicted, more often than not, the outcome of hardships ends up returning clients’ lives to an improved quality with hope and resilience.
