Mohammed Shami Called ‘Characterless’, Ex-Wife Alleges Criminal Conspiracy Involved

The renowned Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami is in trouble yet again as claims have been made by his separated spouse against him, Hasin Jahan. In her recent messages, Jahan not only refers to Shami as a person of characterless but also advances quite serious accusations against him, implying that he has not offered her and their daughter the simplest financial aid and was directly working towards making her life miserable.

Jahan, who got married to Shami in 2014 spoke about her personal experience saying that she had to lay down her career as a model and actress due to being married off at the insistence of Shami. Shami made me leave my career. He did not want me to live anything other than the life of a housewife. Jahan has claimed to love Shami so much happily accepting it.

But she now says she is left with no source of income and this is an aspect that seems to have contributed to the fact that she has had to go to court to support her claim that she is financially dependent on Shami. Now I am no longer receiving my own income. All responsibility of our maintenance rests with Shami. This is why we were to take him to court when he denied this. Thank God, we have such a law in our country which dictates that people should fulfil their duties, she added.

The recent remarks of Jahan again cast a doubt on the character of Shami as Jahan accused Shami of jeopardizing the future of their daughter. Although particular allegations of employing individuals with a bad background were not specifically explained in the later reports, Jahan has employed potent words describing Shami as a criminal in the other contexts, showing hints of deception and ill intentions in the central conflict. This follows years of a nasty legal fight that has at times been conducted in front of a public audience with Jahan returning to alleged claims against Shami and his family.

It’s worth noting that the dispute that Mohammed Shami has had with Hasin Jahan is a long legal battle. Jahan had filed an FIR in 2018 against Shami and others, under various provisions, with counts that included domestic violence, dowry harassment, and even match-fixing. Although the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit cleared Shami regarding the match-fixing allegations, the domestic violence and maintenance matters remain before the courts.

Recently, the Calcutta High Court ordered Mohammed Shami to pay a revised monthly interim maintenance of ₹4 lakh, to Hasin Jahan and their daughter. This order was made after Jahan had approached the High Court against a 2023 sessions court order, requesting a higher amount on the basis of Shami’s huge income.

The ongoing allegations by Hasin Jahan concerning Mohammed Shami, are still piquing public interest, with let to a well-documented view of a cricketer’s difficulties on a personal level, away from the game. So far, Mohammed Shami has continuously denied the allegations, arguing that he is innocent during the whole legal process.
