Summer Olympics 2020 are going on in Tokyo, Japan, and every Indian is eying to brace the medals. Meanwhile, there were several emotional and heroic moments that became highlights of the week. Here, we bring to you weekly highlights from Tokyo Olympics 2020 that you shouldn’t miss.

Chak De Moment, Indian hockey team wins medal after 41 years

The history was rewritten on August 5, 2021, at Tokyo Olympics where the Indian men’s hockey team won the medal after 41 years at the Olympics. India defeated mighty Germany with 5-4 and clinches the bronze medal.
The Germans took an early lead through a field goal via Timur Oruz. But Indian player Simranjeet quickly equalized for India with a backhand shot.
In the second quarter, the Europeans scored 2 goals and looked to run away with the game. But soon they conceded a penalty corner that was converted by Hardik Singh on the rebound. It was followed by another penalty corner in India’s favour. This time it was Harman Preet who levelled the scores before half-time.
In the 3rd quarter, Rupinder Pal Singh notched in a penalty stroke, followed by Simaranjeet scoring another goal. India finally registered a brace for itself after1980 Moscow Games where it secured gold.

Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya wins Silver Medal for the country

Ravi Kumar Dahiya wins silver at Tokyo Olympics 2020. This is India’s second silver medal win in Olympics history. Dahiya won a silver medal in the 57 kg category. He lost the final to World Champion Zayur Uguev of the Russian Olympic Committee by 7-4. But despite his loss Dahiya became the 2nd Indian wrestler to win a silver medal at the Olympics.
PM Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, and many other leaders congratulated the wrestler on his historic win via tweet.

Neeraj Chopra tops group to qualify for Javelin final
India’s Neeraj Chopra topped qualifying on his Olympic debut as he hurled the javelin to a distance of 86.65m in his first attempt. This throw booked his spot in the finals by automatic qualification.
Now, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra pics are going viral on the internet as both the athletes were seen shaking hands with each other.

Deepak Punia misses bronze by a whisker
Deepak Punia took on San Maribo’s Myles Amine in the Men’s freestyle 86 kg event. Punia gets off the mark with 2 points takedowns.
The Indian wrestler was leading 2-1 with a minute to go. But Myles Amine scored a two-pointer in the last 20 seconds to bag the bronze medal.
Boxer Lovlina Fetches Second Medal for India
Lovlina Borgohain assured India’s 2nd medal at the Tokyo Olympics in boxing. Lovlina defeated Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen by a 4-1 split decision to book her place in the semi-final. The debutant will take on Turkey’s Busenaz Surmeneli in the semi-final match of the welterweight category on August 4. Celebrations began at Lovlina’s hometown in Assam’s Golaghat district following her victory.
After her win, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Law Minister Kiren Rijiju congratulated the boxer on her victory.

The event will for 16 days and on Sunday 8 August, the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 will take place.
