When Har Ghar Tiranga brought rozgar for self-help groups, an Indian CEO shared her friendship story with a Pakistani friend that restored our faith in friendship.

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is being carried out under the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’s aegis to mark the 75th year of India’s Independence. Under this campaign, the government has urged the citizens to hoist the flag at their homes from August 13 to 15.

Therefore, Women’s self-help groups from various parts of India contribute to making the campaign successful by preparing the flag. In Assam, national flags worth more than ₹16.07 crore have been sold so far, and altogether 35, 95167 flags were stitched by over 23000 self-help group members.

In Karnataka, women members of Durgadevi & Nakshatra Self Help Groups (SHGs) are preparing Indian flags. In Odisha, 30 lakh National Flags will be hoisted atop houses and institutions.

Uttar Pradesh government is set to drape a total of 4.26 crore houses and 50 lakh government and non-government offices in tricolour. The women of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district make handmade embroidered Indian National Flags. These flags would be unfurled in homes and offices across India and are unique. The Ashoka Chakra on these flags has been done using the traditional Kashmiri crewel artisanship.

The first batch of 19 women cadets join NDA

It is a significant moment for women’s participation in the defense sector as the first batch of 19 cadets have joined the NDA academy in Khadakwasla, Pune. The cadets are enrolled in the NDA (women) ‘s 148th course. These cadets will receive the same training as the male cadets and will train at the NDA for three years. Out of the 19 cadets, ten will serve in the Army, six in the air force, and three in the Navy.

For the first time, CSIR gets a woman director general

 

It’s a proud moment for the nation as senior scientist Nallanthaby Kalaiselvi became the first woman director general of the council of scientific and industrial research (CSIR). She will be heading the consortium of 38 research institutes across the country.

In 2019, she became the first woman scientist to head the Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR_CECRI). Bhavani Devi has clinched the gold medal in London’s ongoing Commonwealth Fencing Championship. She outplayed the second-seeded Australian Veronica Vasileva 15-10 in the senior Women’s sabre individual category final. This is her second Gold medal at the Commonwealth Fencing Championship. In 2018 she clinched Gold in Australia.

India’ B’ team & India’ A’ Women Team wins Bronze in the 44th chess Olympiad.

Bagging a big success, the India ‘B’ team clinched a bronze medal in the Open section. In contrast, India’ A’ women’s team finished third in the 44th chess Olympiad.

India B outplayed Germany 3-1 in their final round match. India B earned 18 points for third place. D Gukesh, R Praggnanandhaa, and Raunak Sadhwani were part of this team. In contrast, Vaishali, Koneru Humphy, Tania Sachdev, and Bhakti Kulkarni played in India’s A women’s team.

Friendship beyond border

Sneha Biswas, A LinkedIn user, shared a heartwarming story of true friendship and how it transcends the borders of 2 nations. Sneha narrated the unique tale of how she came across her now closest friend from Pakistan during her first day at Harvard Business School and how it helped her to change her outlook towards stuff. Sneha also talks about how they bonded over “multiple biryanis, chais, financial models & case study preps.”

Sneha wrote that while pride for the individual counties stands firm, your love for somebody transcends boundaries and geographies. Fundamentally, people are similar everywhere. Humans build borders and boundaries. While it might sometimes make sense to the head, the heart often fails to understand them, as stated by Sneha.
