1. Australian Universities to open campuses in Gujarat’s gift city
A big opportunity for India’s academic world is opening up as two Australian universities are gearing up to unveil campuses in Gujarat’s GIFT city. Deakin University and Wollongong University will be the first 2 foreign universities to establish their campuses in the city.
The Indian and Australian governments will enter into 10 MoUs that will pave the way for setting up a mechanism for mutual recognition of professionalism.

Making Indian flag fly high team India won the 2023 women’s snooker world cup at the Hi-end snooker club after defeating England with an aggregate score of 4-3 (26-56, 27-67, 61-41, 52-27, 11-68[34], 64-55, 39-78). The Indian team was represented by Anupama Ramachandran and Amee Kamani.
3. World Bank commits $1 billion to India for public healthcare Infrastructure
Two complementary loans of USD 500 million were signed between the World Bank and India to support and enhance the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
According to a statement from the multilateral funding agency, using this combined funding of USD 1 billion, the bank will support India’s flagship initiative, the Pradhan Mantri-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), to improve public health infrastructure across the country.
One of the loans will prioritize health service delivery in seven states, including Kerala, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.

The journey from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, to California was difficult for Yogeshwar Nath Mishra, a young scientist. His farmer father gave up a lot to help him realise his goals. The work paid off, as Mishra is now a member of a NASA and Caltech team that developed the fastest laser sheet imaging technique in the world, which can be used to examine nanoparticles in flames.
It is Mishra’s achievement that has the potential to fundamentally alter our understanding of combustion. Technological advancements have assisted in addressing significant concerns affecting the environment as well as the society.
A light sheet was used to cut through a three-dimensional object to reveal information about a specific segment. Invented by Mishra, the planar imaging camera is the fastest in the world. Modern ultra-fast cameras are limited to a million frames per second for similar imaging. The team has combined compressed sensing with streak camera technology in its latest innovation.
5. Diagnosed with autism, J Arday becomes the youngest black professor at Cambridge university

The youngest black professor at Cambridge University will be 37-year-old Jason Arday, who could not write or even read until age 11. Arday was diagnosed with autism and global development delay in his early years, according to the BBC. The university has in total five black professors.
Professor Arday is particularly interested in improving ethnic minorities’ representation in higher education. India Today reported that his first paper got published in 2018 and secured a senior lectureship at Roehampton University before moving on to Durham University as an associate professor.
In 2021, he became one of the UK’s youngest professors at the University of Glasgow’s School of Education.
