Good news: Para powerlifter Sudhir wins gold, Shree Shankar bags historic silver in the long jump in CWG 2022

Adding one more medal to India’s table, para powerlifter Sudhir clinched Gold in the men’s heavyweight category final. He lifted 208kg in his 1st attempt and then increased to 212kg in his 2nd effort to gain 134.5 points.

Murali Shree Shankar became the 1st male long jumper to win a silver medal at the commonwealth games. He achieved this with the highest leap of 8.08m.

India has continued its journey in the ongoing 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games with more medals. Tejaswin Shankar clinched India’s 1st ever medal in the high jump at the Commonwealth Games. Indian judoka Tulika Maan bagged a silver medal in the women’s 78kg category.

Saurav Ghosal won bronze in the bronze medal match. This is India’s 1st medal in Squash in this CWG 2022. India currently stands 6th in the medal tally with 5 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

Good news: India wins gold in men’s team table tennis tournament & lawn bowls

In the ongoing commonwealth games 2022 the Indian Mens table tennis team comprising the team of G. Sathiyan, Harmeet Desai, Sharat Kamal, and Sanil Shetty bagged the gold medal. It is India’s 1st medal in the sport at the ongoing games.

Also, in Lawn Bowls, the Indian team consisting of Lively Choubey, Pinky Singh, Nayanmoni Saikia, and Rupa Rani Tirkey clinched the gold medal. Currently, India stands 6th in the medal tally with 12 medals i.e., 5 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze.

Indian lifter Harjinder Kaur bagged a bronze medal in the women’s 71 kg category in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG). She lifted a combined total of 212 kg to bag the bronze medal to achieve this feat.

Before Kaur, Judoka Shushila Devi bagged a silver in the 48 kg category and Vijay Kumar clinched a Bronze in the 60 kg judo event. Indian teams in women’s four lawn bowls event, badminton mixed team event, and men’s table tennis team event have also assured medals for the nation as they enter the finals.

Good news: India tops medal tally in U-17 World Wrestling Championship

At the Cadet Under-17 World Wrestling Championships, India has clinched a total of 14 medals, a record tally for the country in the history of the competition.

Out of the 14 medals, 7 were gold, and 5 of them were won by women wrestlers of the country. India also won gold in Greco Roman after 32 years.

India’s performance in Commonwealth Games 2022 witnessed great success as Achinta Sheuli secured a gold medal in the men’s weightlifting 73 kg category and Jeremy Lalrinnunga bagged a gold in the Men’s Weightlifting 67 kg category.

Now, India has 6 medals in its basket with 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze from the weightlifting sport. Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (gold), Sanket Mahadev Sargar, Bindyarani Devi (both silver), and Gururaja Poojary (bronze) are the other proud medal winners of India in the ongoing tournament.

Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu brought glory to the nation as she won India’s first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. She created a new games record in women’s 49kg Snatch, Clean, and Jerk and total lift.

So far India has bagged one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. Weightlifter Gururaja Poojary won bronze in men’s 61 kg whereas Sanket Sargar won Silver in Men’s 55kg. Bindyarani Devi clinched a silver in women’s 55 kg weightlifting.

So far, Indian Team have collected 20 medals, including 6 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze.
