The garments presented were not typically bridal. They were a blend of evening wear, gowns, etc. pointing to the fact that today’s bride wants to look perfect on each occasion given the fact that Indian weddings are multi-functional. There was diversity in the sensibilities of all designers that made it more interesting.

“Fashion events are always about the synergy between brands”, said Mr. Vijay Singh. Talking more about the amalgamation of a sports machine with bridal couture, Mr. Singh said, “Both fashion and BMW are about design and luxury. Just like the automobile brand, fashion keeps evolving and needs to reach multiple markets. As a fashion property, we always look at BMW as a natural progressive brand and are proud to have them as our sponsors.” He told us that through this event, he looks forward to providing a definite platform for bridal and couture and bringing out the best designs for the Indian consumer.

About the automobile, BMW is a high end top model machine which is very dynamic and powerful along with a beautiful design. The latest version has new headlights and fronts which combines aesthetics and craftsmanship very carefully. This 6 series Gran Coupe is the newest one of the bean barrier range which will accelerate in 5.46 seconds from 0 to 100 and has a horsepower of 313 hp.

When we asked Mr. Philipp von Sahr how important this event was, he said, “We are supporting this event because you see the luxury car market in India still has a lot of opinion leaders and wealthy people who rather spend on weddings and jewellery shopping than driving a luxury car. Therefore, we decided to step out of the luxury car market and try to be a part of this untapped potential that we have. Weddings call for joy and so does a BMW.”

The sleak & attractive interiors were not to be missed

Already served as President for BMW in markets like US, UK and South Africa, we asked Mr. Sahr what attracted him to come and head the office in India. He replied, “I had alternative markets to go to but it was both a business decision as well as a personal one with my wife. Business wise, it’s an emerging market which is constantly changing with a lot of new things to develop so it’s a long term growing market. Personally, I’ve never seen such open hearted warm hosts as Indians. So, it’s a very relieving thing for me and my wife and we’re so fascinated by the country and continue to stay here for long.”

Sonakshi Sinha, the face of the property and a proud owner of BMW herself, was asked what she would do if she were a bride who owned the latest version. She joked, “Sitting in this car, I won’t be called a bride anymore if I was supposed to be getting married; I’d be a runaway bride because I would definitely run away with this wonderful stunning car.”

It was a successful event where both the models showcasing bridal designs and the luxury car BMW arrived in style. The event will not be restricted to only Delhi; it will be celebrated across six other tier 1 cities for the first time.
