Shillong Calm Festival 2015

Shillong Calm Festival

The Shillong Creative Art Literature Music Festival (CALM) was conceived with the Arts and Culture Department, Government of Meghalaya and the Sahaki Society, Shillong, Meghalaya. As an avenue for the creative arts in Northeast India and to re-establish Shillong as the focal point of the region’s cultural and literary scene.

In days of yore, scores of writers, musicians, artists and other creative personal found inspiration in the pristine pine trees and babbling brooks of Shillong. The Sahaki Society’s effort to recreate this ambience is in the inspiration for the festival and the 1st. Calm Festival held in November 2012. It was a positive step in that direction.

The uniqueness of CALM lies in its equal focus on all dimensions of creativity from literature to the performing and visual arts, as well as thought provoking interactive sessions on societal issues that are threatening to destabilise a calm society. In this lies the essence of the Shillong Calm Festival.

The 4th. Calm Festival 2015, will be a confluence of exciting programmes on all dimensions of the creative arts, interactive discussion on community issues, literature and music.
