No evidence found that salt is bad for health

Group of scientists are now challenging the conventional wisdom that a low-sodium diet is best for your long -term health, asking whether people should have formal advice on the matter of adding a pinch of salt in their food.

In a new review, a team of experts from Columbia University found two distinct bodies of scholarship in the field to those, who believe reducing salt intake will improve the overall health of the population, and those who do not.

So it will be a surprise for many to see that only 54% of the 269 academic reports included in the review is in favor of a hypothesis salt reduction. Of the rest, 33% concluded that reducing salt makes no difference in long-term health, while 13% were inconclusive.
