Inflation stays negative for 16th month

According to the data released by the government, India’s wholesale prices fell for the 16th straight month in February at (-) 0.91 percent. As food articles, mainly vegetables and pulses turned cheaper.

The WPI index – based inflation was (-) 0.9 percent in January and in February last year , it was – 2.17 percent.

Notably, this is the 16th straight month since November , when deflationary pressure has persisted.

The rise in food inflation in this financial year is 3.93 percent. Which was last year 6.86 percent .

As per the data that was released by the government inflation in price of primary articles was 1.58 percent in comparison with 4.63 percent last month.
