Harnessing the power of Personal Appearance

The Image Consulting Business Institute (ICBI) held nine simultaneous workshops recently all across Delhi to help people add the power of dressing to their life and pave a path for success.

 

The free one hour workshops conducted by nine image consultants trained by ICBI- a pioneer and world leader in Image Consulting, taught people how to leave a lasting impression by learning the art of visual communication.

 

The dress for success workshop armed the people present with the power of dressing by providing them with an understanding of the dynamics of body language and by enhancing their communication skills.

 

Pooja Sharma conducted the workshop at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Mayur Vihar. She said “Our image is the most important medium to form our impression. Some key points that we should always keep in mind are that we should try to wear clothes that match our personality and we should try always segregate different clothes for different occasions.”

She added “We communicate a lot through our dressing style, so it is very important to remember the four A’s about our attire- appropriate, authentic, attractive, affordable.”

Nidhi Lal began her workshop at the YWCA, Ashoka Road by giving a few examples on how we usually choose visual cues for judging people which speaks volumes about how we form an impression in the very first look. She said “Success comes when two things come together- getting a chance to do something and performing when you get that chance.”

Talking about human tendencies, she added “Human memory is photographic. When you meet someone- 7% of your message is conveyed, 38% of your voice makes an impression but it’s your looks or image that comprises of 55% and that takes the game away. So, it is really important to choose the right clothes as per your body shape, color, fabric and confidence.”

Renu Mehra spoke on the power of dressing up at her workshop held at the India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road. She said “It is astonishing to know that you can be authoritative, stable, accessible, precise, credible, capable, helpful, official, agreeable, consistence, flexible and more just by using the power of dressing up.”

She spoke about the four levels of clothing that can make or break your impression and reflection of your position: tailored (collar, same color suit upside down), softly tailored (Jacket and mix match), casual and untailored. She also spoke about intricate body language and why it is really important to dress up the right way

Workshop at IHC, Lodhi Road.

Sabita Kapoor conducted the workshop at the Hotel City Park, Pitampura. She talked about the importance of visual image as an obvious form of nonverbal communication. She said “It speaks first to the wearer, then to the viewer and reflects the attitude, values, personality and goals of the person.”

She then enlightened the audience about the various ways in which they can revamp their visual appeal, keeping in mind their body and personality type, to achieve an optimum look for achieving success in life.

Mona Motwani conducted the workshop at the Vasant Vihar Club, Vasant Vihar. She said “Confidence comes naturally with success. But success comes only to those, who are confident.”

Talking about accessorizing your look, she said “The job of accessories is to enhance your overall look and the way you carry yourself. This applies with formals as well. For men, Ties with Tie-pins, collars and cuff- links, watches, shoes and the socks of the right color (Which most of the men aren’t aware of) enhance the overall formal attire. For Woman, Handbags, Clutch-Purses, and pearls are the best option.”

Piyanka Swaroop held the workshop at the Unitech Golf and Country Club, Noida. She started by introducing the workshop. She said “The dress for success workshop is all about the power of dressing, understanding the dynamics of body language, enhancing your communication skills and paving your way to success.”

She also guided the audience about what could break or make their image and how visual presentation could open doors to success in all aspects of life.

Trina Acharyya conducted the workshop at Radisson Blu Hotel, Paschim Vihar. She taught about how your clothing and grooming affects the way you think, the way you feel, the way you behave and how other’s react or respond to you.

She also explained how the image cycle works and how our self-image is directly proportional to how other’s perceive us to be.

Nidhi Jagtiani, at her workshop at the Hilton Garden Inn, Saket, said “We need to choose out clothes for specific occasions and your dressing should also depend on the professional levels. Accessorizing the attire always helps and you can accessories even in the most formal of attire. Pearls and diamonds work the best for formals, even with Level 4 positions.”

She further added “We also need to match our attire with our basic body structure, which isn’t only about you being thin or chubby, but also about your body frame. Movie stars are aware of their body type and dress accordingly, you need to too.”

Neha Sawhney conducted the workshop at the Pulse Party Hall, Rajouri Garden. She educated all present about the personal and professional style scale and how to utilize it to find the perfect look for yourself for every occasion.

Be it tailored, softly tailored, casual tailored or untailored; all types of styles and their various design elements were decrypted and simplified to create an understanding on how to dress for success.
