Succeeded by Nikhil Kumar, the sixth Chief Minister of Delhi and the former Union Minister, Sheila Dikshit assumed office on March 4 as the new governor of Kerala.

Elected for three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2013, she was the longest serving Chief Minister of the Capital but lost her seat against anti-corruption leader, Arvind Kejriwal last year.

Nikhil Kumar, who resigned from his post of governor, is now gearing towards contesting the Lok Sabha elections from his traditional stronghold district, Auranagabad.
