OLX Users to soon get an altogether different experience


India’s top online classified website, OLX has recently announced the launch of its all new application, which will provide tech-led changes and help in the increased penetration of online classifieds across regions, categories and age groups.

OLX, which is the market chief in consumer-to-consumer (C2C) classifieds in India, has advanced in innovative technology and deep consumer understanding to mount improved and leading product changes on its App to make the online classifieds practice simpler, safer, and social.

Expectations From the Application

The OLX’s App was ascended for Android users by September 27th, and will be mounted to its remaining user base in upcoming weeks. The new OLX Application is expected to meet the consumer needs and help in growth of the brand.

It is already the market head in used cars, bikes, electronics, mobiles phones, and furniture, is looking to upscale some of its other categories with these changes.

Previously owned fashion products, hobby items such as sports equipment, musical instruments, collectibles, and vintage items and accessories, have been steady in growth on OLX. The new App might facilitate further growth for these categories. OLX also expects to double its growth rate in the next one year as a result of these changes.

“Consumer insights played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and introducing these changes. The annual OLX Consumer Research on Used Goods and Selling Trends (CRUST) for 2015-16, revealed that Indians are stocking unused goods worth Rs. 78,300 crore.

This, along with other consumer insights, pushed us to think about the unmet needs of the users and the new ways in which we could make selling and buying of unused goods simpler for them. We also looked at some of the broader challenges confronting the industry,” said CEO OLX India, Amarjit Singh Batra.

With the new App, it has made significant improvements on three fronts particularly. Features such as ‘Chat First’ are bold; trustworthiness of the platform is enhanced by industry-first moves that along with compulsory registration, making the users more secure.

Also, by allowing users to see products nearest to them, they have tried to provide a credible hyper-local classifieds experience based on simplicity and ease. along with by introducing features such as image recognition for products, they have tried to make seller’s posting experience more demonstrated.
