Anti-Discrimination policies: Is DU progressing?

DU’s decision to introduce the category “third gender” in the application forms of PG in 2014 and for UG courses last year was hailed as a progressive step.

Following the decision to a higher court, the University Grants Commission (UGC) notified transgender people as the third gender in 2014 so that they can reap the benefits of all scholarship programs and scholarship programs in colleges.

The court noted that about three million transgender people in the country are particularly vulnerable to harassment, violence and sexual assault that come from a deep-rooted stigma.

Bangalore University was the first to modify your application form to include the category in 2010.

But transgender students were concerned the measure because they felt the university was rushing through an action whose consequences was not prepared to handle.
