Union minister wants to ban Chinese food restaurants and Twitter can’t keep calm

Go Chowmein, Chowmein Go, new mantra to defeat China

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has called for boycotting the Chinese products and Chinese foods and restaurants amid the rising border-tension between India and China at the Ladakh border. The Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment’s response on Thursday came after a deadly conflict between India and China near the Pangong Tso Lake where 20 Indian soldiers were killed in action.

In one of his tweet, he wrote “China is a country which betrays. All the products of China should be boycotted in India. Chinese foods and restaurants selling Chinese foods should be closed.”

Following Athawale’s comments, Twitter could not keep calm and criticized the Union minister for his bizarre comment and said that the Chinese food has nothing to do with the ongoing standoff between India and China. While some user reminded the union minister that all the Chinese foods are prepared in India by the people of India and profit isn’t shared with China, others gave a new Mantra to combat China – “Go Chowmein, Chowmein Go”. One Twitter user even asked if both the Maida and Atta  Noodles are getting banned! Clearly, his statement didn’t go well with the public.

Ramdas Athawale made Go Corona Go a pop culture phenomenon

Just to remind, Ramdas Athawale is the same politician who made the “Go Corona Go” a pop culture phenomenon in India. The video of the event in which he was chanting “Go Corona Go” at the Gateway of India along with Chinese Consul General in Mumbai, Tang Guocai and Buddhist monks had gone viral when COVID-19 was at the initial phase in India.
