Ben Stokes, England Test Captain for West Indies series wore a jersey with Vikash Kumar’s name on it
A proud moment for Indian-origin Doctor Vikas Kumar came after his name appeared on the jersey of England captain Ben Stokes. Dr Vikas Kumar is an Anesthesiologist, currently working in the Arlington Hospital in Durham county. England cricket team players wore jerseys with names of the health workers who are working tirelessly in the battle against the deadly global pandemic, COVID-19.

The players of England squad wore the names during the training session ahead of the game. Dr Vikas Kumar is a former Delhi University student and has a post-graduate diploma in anaesthesia from Maulana Azad Medical College. He moved to England in 2019 and is a big fan of Cricket.
Dr Kumar was overwhelmed by the gesture of England Cricket and World Cup hero Ben Stokes. The England all-rounder also released a video message for Doctor Kumar which was posted on the official Twitter handle of England cricket. The cricket resumed with empty stadiums and only for TV viewers after a 117 days gap due to the COVID-19.

Know about Dr Vikas Kumar
Dr Vikas moved to Durham when the pandemic had just arrived and has been working with critical COVID-19 patients who need intensive and immediate care.
Vikas Kumar plays cricket for Gilli Boys Amateur Club which has been formed by Asian-origin players and Cowgate Cricket Club in nearby Newcastle. He had earlier worked with International cricketers in the Delhi Test of 2017 between India and Sri Lanka. This is the same game when the air pollution in Delhi was unbearable and players wore masks on the ground. Dr Vikas wants to auction Jersey signed by Ben Stokes to raise funds for the National Health Service.
Apart from Vikas, three other Indian-origin health workers found a place on the back of the jersey of England players. Physiotherapist Krishan Aghada from Leicester, Dr Jamasp Kaikhusroo Dastur from Norwich and Harikrishna Shah’s name featured on England cricket team players back.
