2021 is about to end. The year that was to be good and full of hope is also at its end. While a few good things happened this year, there were also times that made it feel even worse than 2020. Some of those times were when we heard about the deaths of these Famous Personalities.

Dilip Kumar

Dilip Kumar or Mohammad Yusuf Khan is one of the most famous Bollywood celebrities. The ‘Tragedy King’, as he is known because of the stories of his films, was the first actor to introduce method acting to Bollywood. The veteran actor breathed his last breath at the age of 98, on July 7, 2021. He is survived by his wife Saira Banu, who is also a famous Bollywood actress.

Puneeth Rajkumar

The death of Puneeth Rajkumar was one of the most shocking news of the year 2021. The famous Kannada actor was only 46 when he had a cardiac arrest and lost his life on October 29, 2021. The news came as a shock to all his fans who rushed to his funeral site. One of his fans even had a cardiac arrest himself after hearing this news. The actor was lovingly nicknamed Appu by his fans.

Another shocking death that left the whole nation grieving. The famous television actor Siddharth Shukla too had a cardiac arrest which caused his death. The news of his death broke on 2nd September 2021. His fans couldn’t believe this to be true and many claimed that it was fake. The actor was only 41 at the time of his death.

James Micheal Tyler

James Micheal Tyler, or Gunther, as he was famously known by F. R. I. E. N. D. S fans left the world too soon. The actor had been suffering from prostate cancer since 2018. His illness was the reason he was missing from the much-awaited F. R. I. E. N. D. S reunion. He died at the age of 59 on October 24, 2021.

The famous Dadisa of Indian television, Surekha Sikri, is a name known to all. The veteran theatre artist has been acting for a long time with various accolades to show for it. The accomplished actress suffered a cardiac arrest at the age of 76, on 16 July 2021.

A feminist, activist, and poet, Kamla Bhasin has definitely left a mark on the world. She is the founder of Sangat- A Feminist Network and even left her job at UN to contribute more towards her initiative. She was an advocate against capitalism and patriarchy. She is also famous for her interview with Aamir Khan at Satyamev Jayate. She left the world on 25 September 2021 at the age of 75 due to cancer.

Kalyan Singh

Former CM of Uttar Pradesh, and a prominent member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Interestingly, he was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh at the time of the Babri Masjid Incident in 1992, after which he was named an icon for Hindu Nationalism. He died on 21 August 2021.

Milkha Singh

Milkha Singh, or The Flying Sikh, is the most prominent figure in Indian Sports. Although he could not win an Olympic Medal, he is the only athlete to win gold at 400 metres at the Asian Games as well as the Commonwealth Games. He was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, in recognition of his sporting achievements. Unfortunately, he was also a victim of the fatal coronavirus pandemic and died on 13 June 2021.

The famous Chipko Movement activist Sunderlal Bahuguna died at the age of 94, on 21 May 2021. He was the most prominent environmentalist of Modern India.

Prince Philip

The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, died at the age of 99 on 9 April 2021, just a few months shy of 100. The husband of Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-serving royal consort in history. To mark his centenary, the Royal Horticultural Society bred a new breed of rose in his honor.
