Temple vandalised in canada:- A well-known Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada, was vandalised with anti-Indian graffiti as part of a wave of attacks on Hindu temples. Outrage among the Indian community resulted from hateful phrases such as “Khalistan Zindabad, Hindustan Murdabad” being painted on the walls of the temples.
The destruction of the temple, according to the Indian Consulate General in Toronto, has caused great hurt to the Indian community in Canada. “We strongly condemn the defacing of Gauri Shankar Mandir in Brampton, a symbol of Indian heritage, with anti-India graffiti. The hateful act of vandalism has deeply hurt sentiments of the Indian community in Canada. We have raised our concerns on the matter with Canadian authorities,” it tweeted.

“The Canadian Indian community’s feelings have been severely affected by the hateful act of vandalism. The consulate office issued a statement on Tuesday stating, “We have raised our concerns about the matter with Canadian authorities.
At least three other Hindu temples have been vandalised in Canada since July 2022, therefore the vandalism of the temple in Brampton is not the only act.
Chandan Acharya, a Canadian politician denounced the destruction of the Mandir and urged the government to take necessary steps to deter attacks on temples in future.
“The attack of Gauri Shankar Mandir in Brampton is the latest in attacks on Hindu temples in Canada by anti-Hindu and anti-India groups. From hatred on social media, now physical attacks on Hindu temples, what next? I call on the government at levels in Canada to start taking this seriously,” Acharya tweeted.

Patrick Brown, the mayor of Brampton, also expressed his worry over the hate crime, adding that such vandalism has no place in the country.

The Ministry of External Affairs had said that “hate crime” and “against Indian activities” had significantly increased in Canada during the previous year.
An investigation into the incident has been opened by the Canadian authorities. The incident is thought to have involved other Khalistani groups as well as the proscribed terror organisation Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).
Statistics Canada figures from the previous year show a sharp increase in hate crimes against people because of their ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation in Canada in recent years.
According to Statistics Canada, there was a 72% increase in hate crimes in Canada between 2019 and 2021.
