Akshay Kumar’s upcoming release, “Mission Raniganj,” is a thrilling film that draws inspiration from a real-life event involving the late Jaswant Singh Gill, who led India’s historic and successful coal mine rescue mission. The movie’s first trailer has been unveiled, offering a glimpse into the intense narrative.
The storyline revolves around a catastrophic accident in a coal mine where a large group of miners becomes trapped underground due to a mine collapse. In a desperate bid for survival, the miners plead for their lives, setting the stage for a high-stakes rescue mission. Akshay Kumar takes on the role of a Sikh engineer who is determined to go to great lengths to save the lives of these trapped miners.

In a recent development, the makers released the track “Jalsa 2.0,” which has garnered positive responses from fans. The song, sung and written by Satinder Sartaaj, features Akshay and Parineeti in Punjabi attire, engaging in spirited Bhangra on catchy desi beats.
“Mission Raniganj” is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Ajay Kapoor. Akshay Kumar previously collaborated with director Tinu Suresh Desai on the crime thriller “Rustom.”
The film’s release will coincide with Bhumi Pednekar’s “Thank You for Coming,” directed by Karan Boolani and also featuring Shehnaaz Gill.
Apart from “Mission Raniganj,” Akshay Kumar has a packed slate, including the Hindi remake of the Tamil drama “Soorarai Pottru,” set to hit theatres on February 16, 2024. He is also set to star in an action thriller alongside Tiger Shroff and a comedy film, “Housefull 5,” adding to his versatile repertoire in the world of Indian cinema.
