As per the statement from SP Kullu Sakshi Verma, Vaibhavi tried to escape through the window but suffered a fatal head injury. Her fiancé, fortunately, escaped unharmed.

Vaibhavi Upadhyaya’s last rites will take place in Mumbai today, May 24, as her friends, family, and colleagues bid farewell to the beloved actress. The 30-year-old artist had made a remarkable impact in the industry during her career.

Deven Bhojani, actor-director of ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,’ expressed his shock and grief over the sudden demise of his close friend and co-star. In a heartfelt message on Twitter, Bhojani wrote, “Shocking! A very fine actress and a dear friend Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, popularly known as ‘Jasmine’ of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai passed away.” He further added, “Gone too soon.”

Upadhyaya’s portrayal of Jasmine Mawani in ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ captivated audiences with her foot-in-the-mouth literal Gujarati to English translations, providing many laughs. Her character was also known for the popular Gujarati catchphrase “Khot nat kehti” (I speak the truth) and for fearlessly challenging the family matriarch, Maya Sarabhai, played by Ratna Pathak Shah.

The devastating news of Upadhyaya’s demise was shared by J D Majethia, the producer of ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,’ on his Instagram Story. “Life is so unpredictable. A very fine actress, dear friend Vaibhavi Upadhyay popularly known as ‘Jasmine’ of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai passed away. She met with an accident in the north…” Majethia wrote, expressing his disbelief and sorrow.

Members of the ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ cast also expressed their grief and paid tribute to Upadhyaya. Satish Shah, who portrayed the role of the Sarabhai family patriarch, Indravadan, fondly remembered her as “a fine actor and a colleague.” He shared his condolences on Twitter, stating, “The whole SvS team is in shock. Om Shanti.”

Rupali Ganguly, who played Monisha Sarabhai on the show, also took to social media to express her sorrow. She wrote, “Shocking! A very fine actress and a dear friend Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, popularly known as ‘Jasmine’ of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai passed away.” Ganguly added, “Gone too soon.”
