Upadhyaya’s portrayal of Jasmine Mawani in ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ captivated audiences with her foot-in-the-mouth literal Gujarati to English translations, providing many laughs. Her character was also known for the popular Gujarati catchphrase “Khot nat kehti” (I speak the truth) and for fearlessly challenging the family matriarch, Maya Sarabhai, played by Ratna Pathak Shah.
The devastating news of Upadhyaya’s demise was shared by J D Majethia, the producer of ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,’ on his Instagram Story. “Life is so unpredictable. A very fine actress, dear friend Vaibhavi Upadhyay popularly known as ‘Jasmine’ of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai passed away. She met with an accident in the north…” Majethia wrote, expressing his disbelief and sorrow.

Satish Shah, who portrayed the role of the Sarabhai family patriarch, Indravadan, fondly remembered her as “a fine actor and a colleague.” He shared his condolences on Twitter, stating, “The whole SvS team is in shock.
