Usha Ji, the mother of the protagonist, Sandhya is one of the finest performers in the film, Pagglait. Played by Sheeba Chaddha, who is a wonderful actor in herself, among the big set of cast, Usha Ji has always shined in the film. Her pain and despair are seen in every scene. While there is not a lot of time when she holds the centre stage, she is always a string to which everyone is attached to.

There are some characters who are the healers for your protagonist, who save your protagonist and help your protagonist. Such characters really find a space in your hearts. Definitely, because their character is beautifully written, but also because their character is the one empathising with your protagonist, for whom you are feeling the most. Jimmy, Rohan’s Uncle in the film Udaan is doing the same. He is the only one who is there, understanding Rohan and that’s what makes him so special for the audience.

Pankaj Tripathi as Sadhya Ji in Masaan

Masaan is a film with an extremely deep and layered narrative and it does hold the power to make a person uncomfortable. And the catalyst to this comfortability is Sadhya Ji. He is a stereotypical Indian man, treating his female colleagues just as any patriarch will. But what’s interesting is that he behaves like a stereotypical man, but is not toxic, says things that might not sound progressive, but doesn’t want to pull the protagonist down. And this is the beauty of Sadhya Ji’s character which shined even nicely with the acting of Pankaj Tripathi.

Yogita Bihani’s character is the one holding the camera in the whole film. It seems like we are seeing the whole film from Yogita’s eyes, but we never see Yogita herself on the screen. But did we not feel for her in the film? Well, we did. There are sequences when the film where Anurag is furious, he even mistreats Yogita, he is unkind to her which he sketched the whole plan. But Yogita’s character is quiet always, as she is the underdog character playing around the whole plan. The silence and innocence in her character are what is making her so interesting.
