Happy Birthday Amrish Puri: Google Doodle is paying tribute to this legendary actor


‘Mogambo Khush Hua’, it is an iconic dialogue and it’s hard for people to forget it, especially who were born in the era of 90s. Today, Google is celebrating the birthday of legendary actor Amrish Puri with a Doodle.  There was a time when no Hindi film was considered complete without his presence. Happy Birthday Amrish Puri, here is the list of his iconic characters.

Be it the character of deadly villain Mogambo in Mr India or Baldev Singh in DDLJ, a father who is strict but loves his daughter unconditionally in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, he left a  mark.  If Mr Puri was alive today he would have been 87. He passed away in 2005, leaving behind not just the movies and memories but an entire genre that belongs to him.  Amrish Puri started off his career in the 70s. He got his first role at the age of 39.  He had worked in more than 400 movies.

1.Mr. India- Mogambo

The most frightening villain of B- Town so far. He just nailed it and nobody can forget this iconic character. The character was created by Javed Akhtar, and Mr Puri understood the pitch. Amrish Puri immortalised the character of Desi Hitler.

2. Karan Arjun- Thakur Durjan Singh

Do you remember Mujhko Rana Ji Maaf Karna?  The film had several classic moments. Two Khans and Amrish Puri as the Villian what else you want for a complete Bollywood Masala?  It was indeed a blockbuster and the craze is still not over.

3.Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge – Baldev Singh

Jaa Simran Jee Le Apni Zindagi- This dialogue is stuck in our minds. Of course, Kajol and SRK were leading in the film and their classic romance is still an example for many youngsters, but it was Bauji who added so many colours to the film. The typical Indian father, who cannot comprise, but can do anything for the happiness of his daughter.

4. Nayak

The film went on to become one of the most inspiring movies of all times. He played the character of a Chief Minister who ignores riots to protect his vote bank. As it is always said you need a strong Villian for a blockbuster film. He did it and the film became a blockbuster.

5. Baba Baironath in Nagina

He played the character of Snake Charmer in the film Nagina. The film was a blockbuster so does his character. Notably, Nagina was the solo-hit of the year. People loved Sridevi as Nagin and Puri who was seen as a Tantrik left a mark on the audience by his phenomenal acting.
