Supermodel Gigi Hadid recently shared her perspective on the Israel-Palestine conflict, expressing concern over the “evil and disturbing” narrative. Unlike some celebrities who have taken sides, Gigi, along with her sister Bella, has consistently supported Palestine. In her recent Instagram update, Gigi criticized Israel’s labelling of Palestinians and their supporters, stressing the one-sided portrayal of the conflict. She questioned the notion of dissent being silenced and highlighted the challenges faced by Jews critical of the government’s actions.

Hadid Family: Palestine Ties

Both Gigi and Bella Hadid share a close connection to Palestine through their father, Mohamed Anwar Hadid, who was born in a Palestinian Muslim household in 1948. Their mother, Yolanda Foster, is a former supermodel and reality TV personality. Gigi’s father had previously expressed unease about the family residing under Israeli occupation.

The Hadid sisters, being half-Palestinian and half-Dutch, have a shared ancestry, with their father’s family being forced to leave Palestine during the war in 1947-1949. Gigi’s father recounted their family’s history as Palestinian refugees in a heartfelt note dating back to 2015.
