Veronica was the kind of girl Sanskari parents would ask their kids to stay away from. Veronica was an inebriated kid who didn’t shy away from sex and swindles. Padukone has never been this fierce and fluent in her performance before. This was the beginning of an admirable repertoire.

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani

This college girl was meek and a geek. Only after she has discovered herself and her love for Kabir (Ranbir Kapoor) do we see the spark inside her. Displaying both emotions quickly, the actress showed what a good actor could bring to a good part.

Piku

A curiously titled film about a dysfunctional Bengali family in Kolkata, Padukone played the eponymous character who juggles between a hectic office life and a cantankerous and constipated father. With her commanding aura and piquancy, Deepika delivered a self-assured performance that felt more natural.

Tamasha

There was a lot more in this Imtiaz Ali directorial than the love story of Ved and Tara. Tara was the shine in his life. Padukone infused Tara, and it was hard to imagine any other actress who could do better than her.

Goliyon ki Raasleela – Ram Leela

This was a volatile, violent, fast-paced and ferocious love story that ultimately became a victim of family friction. Padukone’s godly look just blew the minds of her fans.

Deepika Padukone had a pretty good year in her film. Gehraiyaan received a mixed response from the audience and critics. Also, her songs Besharam Rang and Jhoome Jo Pathaan from the film Pathaan were well received by the audience. This year, the actress has one release: Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. It is scheduled to release on January 25.

Happy Birthday, Dimple Queen!
