Chehre Review: Big B shines but not the film!

The star ensemble of the film is phenomenal including actors like Annu Kapoor, Emraan Hashmi and ofcourse Big B. The film also has a strong supporting cast including Rhea Chakraborty, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Raghubir Yadav, Krystle Dsouza, Sameer Soni, siddharth Kapoor and AlexAlexx O’ Nell.. The movie Chehre begins with Amitabh Bachchan ‘s monologue justifying the movie title.

The movie takes us to somewhere in the hills (place was not specified) where A Delhi based rich man Sameer (Emraan Hashmi) is stuck in the snowfall. Fortunately, Annu Kapoor, a retired law professional comes to his rescue. Sameer takes shelter at Annu’s friend, Acharya ji who is a retired judge. There he meets  Raghubir, a retired hangman and Anna (Rhea).

Rhea has a very short screen time and is overshadowed by others. She voluntary work as a house help at Acharya ji’s house. Soon, Amitabh ‘s character enters as a very talented and vigilant retired lawyer.

All the characters enter into a game in the form of courtroom drama and the story takes a suspicious turn. The first half is mostly shot in an isolated bungalow. It is filled with Gyan bhaare baatein of Amitabh Bachchan and Emran Hashmi which could be slightly boring. But the second half is engaging and gripping. 

The Story in the second half will surprise you. As there were various shots of flashbacks. It gives a sneak-peak into Sameer’s life.

Krystle  D’Souza’s character Natasha Oswal is introduced as a wife of Rich business professional G.S Oswal(Sameer Soni) who is in a troubled marriage. She is also having an affair with Sameer who happens to be his husband’s employee. This becomes an interesting plot for a courtroom drama game where Sameer is accused of killing his boss.
Anything beyond this will be a spoiler and we are totally against it. It will be very interesting to see how a veteran lawyer digs out truth from a stranger.

Emran Hashmi was very convincing as an unapologetic business professional. He lives life on his terms and is eager for easy success.

Amitabh Bachchan was true to his profession and believed in justice. But his character has a 13-minute-long monologue which fails to create a long-lasting impact.

Annu Kapoor as a defending lawyer of Hashmi did justice to the character. Rhea Chakraborty failed to impress us as absence of her character would not have disturbed the story line.
Siddharth as a mute man also has a short screen time but his acting skills were very convincing. We rate it 1.5 stars!
