Here are 6 times when Amitabh Bachchan had a miracle escape from death.
Amitabh Bachchan suffers a muscle tear on his right rib cage. This serious injury happened during the shoot of ‘Project K’. The 80-year-old star was filming an action shot when the injury occurred. He received medical care in Hyderabad and is now recovering at his home in Mumbai.
Bachchan gave an update on his recovery through a Tumblr blog post. He wrote that His drip cartilage popped on the set and that injured him. He further added, “I am moving and breathing but that is extremely painful currently”. Therefore, it will take some time for him to recover.
He has also postponed the shoot of ‘Project K’. He is now resting and has either cancelled or postponed all the work commitments for the time being.
However, the dedicated actor will resume shooting for the film once he gets recovered from the injury.
In ‘Project K’, Bachchan is sharing the screen with ‘Bahubali’ actor Prabhas and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.
During one of the action sequences he got hurt. However, this is not the first time Amitabh Bachchan had a close call to death. In the past as well, Bachchan had some near-death experiences. Some were due to injury on set, or deteriorating health conditions while others were just merely rumours.
‘Coolie’ accident
In 1982, the whole nation was praying and performing yajna for the speedy recovery of Bachchan as he remained critical even after several surgeries.
The mishap happened on the sets of Coolie where the actor misjudged a jump and was seriously injured. He was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state. The ‘Sholay’ actor took months to stand on his feet and the day was also considered his 2nd birthday.
Hepatitis B/ Liver Cirrhosis
Definitely, Bollywood’s big B came out stronger after the fatal Coolie accident, still another major health issue was on the way to test his mettle. The actor has had his share of serious health conditions to deal with, and he overcomes them, with many fans praying for his health and well-being.
One of the blood donors during his Coolie accident was carrying the Hepatitis B virus. Therefore, the actor ended up losing 75% of his liver.

Myasthenia Gravis
Big B was diagnosed with this neuromuscular disease in 1984. It is characterised by weakness and rapid fatigue of muscles under your voluntary control.
Tuberculosis of the spine
He was diagnosed with the condition in 2000 and was on 8-10 painkillers a day while shooting for KBC.
Diverticulitis of the small intestine
In 2005, he underwent major surgery for inflammation and perforation of small and large intestines.
COVID-19
Amitabh Bachchan was admitted to hospital after he contracted coronavirus in 2020, along with his son Abhishek.
The actor keeps his fans in the loop with his health status and also from time to time spreads awareness for others to protect themselves. However, we pray for the speedy recovery of the legend. This too shall pass!
