Abhay Deol Birthday: When Deol Called Anurag Kashyap ‘Liar’

Abhay Deol Birthday: 5 Friendship Goals We Got From ZNMD, ‘Ek Kabir toh Hum Bhi Deserve Karte Hai’

Abhay Deol, another talent from the Deol family turns 47 today. The dimpled actor has delivered some remarkable films that proved his mettle. From Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye to Happy Bhag Jayegi, the actor has always tried his hand at some unconventional roles. However, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara remains our favourite.

Nevertheless, before taking a road trip to friendship, let’s take a brief look at Abhay Deol’s life.

Abhay Deol birthday special: When he called Anuraj Kashyap a ‘liar’

Abhay Singh Deol is an Indian actor and producer, known for his work in Hindi films alongside Kannada and Tamil cinema. Born on March 15, 1976, in the Deol family, he made his on-screen debut in 2005 with Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy Socha Na Tha.

His Bollywood career has completed almost two decades and Deol has had fair share of struggles. Fear of missing out and irrelevancy, major flops and big hits, the baggage of a big Bollywood surname, Abhay has survived it all.

Abhay Deol is among such Bollywood actors who were not afraid of shelling truth bombs. In an interview, the actor called Anurag Kashyap a liar and toxic filmmaker. Later Anurag also responded to Abhay’s comments and shared that he had already apologised to him, and was ready to do so again. He said, “It is okay if that is how he feels. Everyone has his version of the truth. Maybe he felt attacked about what I had spoken about him earlier. I have personally apologised to him for hurting his feelings.”

He added that people should now focus on the actor’s current project in which he has given a good performance. He shared, “What I said was what he was [like] in the past. We all evolve with time. He has done a great job in [Trial by Fire]. I think it is time to celebrate his strong performance rather than playing the ping-pong of who said what.”

After Sushant Singh Rajput died in 2020, Anurag Kashyap said he had called up Abhay Deol after not speaking to him for years when he started reconnecting with people he had lost touch with.

5 Lessons from Abhay Deol starrer ZNMD

Coming to Abhay Deol starrer ZNMD, which is a cult classic and revives our memories of Dil Chahta Hai. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was a movie which taught us life lessons as well as friendship lessons. The movie taught us how to live every moment of our life, how to leave every worry behind and just enjoy! Following are the five friendship lessons that we all learnt from the Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol friendship trio:

  1. Stick to your childhood friendship pacts

You might find these childhood friendship pacts impractical now but always stick to them and do, follow them.

  1. Support your friends in their crazy schemes

ZNMD taught us how supporting your friends in their crazy and impulsive ideas can be so much fun!

  1. Help your friends get over their fears

This movie also taught us how to help our friends get over their fears. In this way, your friends will also help you get over yours.

  1. Forgive and forget

Always apologise, if you have made a mistake and forgive as soon as you can because friends are like gems of your life and losing them to stupid fights is just not done!

  1. It’s okay to be silly sometimes

Being silly sometimes is fine irrespective of your age. You will always have that one friend in your squad who will be always there to crack silly jokes and make you smile as Farhan Akhtar in the movie!

Abhay Deol never engaged in any controversy nor were there any major link-up rumours about him. Happy Birthday to an actor who refuses to bow down to norms and rather joyfully admits that he is embracing change and “still endeavouring to draw the balance between mainstream and non-mainstream cinema.
