20-Year-Old Student’s Suicide in Rajasthan Kota Raises Alarms: Urgent Need for Mental Health Support and Examination Stress Management

In Rajasthan, Kota, a heartbreaking incident occurred on Monday as a 20-year-old student, Faureed Hussain, passed away. He was preparing for the NEET, an exam for medical courses, and his death marks the 28th such case this year in the city known for coaching centres that help students get ready for tough exams.

Hussain, from West Bengal, was found in his rented room in Kota’s Wakf Nagar area. The police mentioned that despite rushing him to the hospital, the doctors couldn’t save him after he was found hanging.

According to his friends, they last saw him around 4 pm before he locked himself in his room until 7 pm. When they couldn’t reach him, they sought help from the landlord. The police arrived at the scene after the landlord’s call and discovered Hussain’s body.

Rajesh Pathak, a local police officer, explained, “We found the student hanging from the ceiling fan after breaking open the door.” He added that there was no note left behind. The police are waiting for Hussain’s family to arrive to search his room properly. The body has been sent for an autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing.
