Katihar (Bihar), On Monday, July 10, three minors and one adult drowned in the river Ganga while bathing at a crowded ghat in Katihar district, Bihar. This incident of 4 drown while bathing in Ganga occurred on an auspicious day for Hindus during the holy month of Shravan. Local authorities have been informed, and investigations are underway.

The incident took place at the Ganga ghat in Barari, where a significant number of devotees had gathered to participate in the ritual bathing on the auspicious day.

According to Manish Kumar Rajak, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Barari Police station, the individuals who lost their lives have been identified as Shivam Kumar (15), Mohan Kumar (18), Pappu Kumar (16), and Harsha Kumar (14). The authorities are investigating how the incident occurred despite the presence of security arrangements in place.

The month of ‘Shravan’, also known as ‘Sravana’ or ‘Sawan’, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The devotees observe fast on each Monday of this month.

As per media reports, during an incident at the river Ganga, one devotee went missing while three others were rescued in critical condition. The rescued individuals, who belong to Kheria in the Koda block of Katihar, were promptly taken to the Barari Primary Health Center for immediate medical treatment.
