Political Move taken by Pradhan Slams Karnataka Scrap NEP: Education’s Integrity at Stake

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan criticized the Karnataka scrap NEP. He expressed disappointment, deeming the move politically motivated and contrary to the progress that education should signify. He emphasized that education ought to be a beacon of advancement, not a tool of politics.

NEP Reflection & Leadership Call:

Pradhan underscored that the NEP 2020 had emerged from years of consultations, reflecting the aspirations of various stakeholders. He denounced the decision as a reflection of the anti-reform, anti-Bharatiya Bhasha, and anti-Karnataka stance of the Indian National Congress @INCIndia. Pradhan also called for leadership in Karnataka that values progress and inclusivity over petty politics.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced the scrapping of the NEP in Karnataka from the upcoming academic year, criticizing the policy introduced by the previous BJP government. He pledged to align education with the Constitution and accused the BJP of being anti-constitution and supportive of Manuwad.

NEP Implementation & Student Welfare:

Siddaramaiah explained that while NEP was enforced in Karnataka, no other BJP-ruled states adopted it. He cited timing concerns, as the academic year had already commenced when the government was formed. The decision to continue NEP for this year aimed to prevent disruption to students  mid-year.

Speaking at a Congress Committee meeting, Siddaramaiah outlined plans for a careful phasing out of NEP in alignment with the Constitution, focusing on avoiding students’ inconvenience amid political transitions.
