Several vehicles were involved in a major collision on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Greater Noida on Saturday morning as dense fog severely reduced visibility. The accident resulted in multiple injuries and caused a traffic jam stretching nearly five kilometres. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist victims and restore traffic flow, while injured individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Collision Near Chakrasainpur Area
The crash occurred in the Chakrasainpur area under Dadri police station limits. Police officials, toll staff, and crane operators were deployed immediately to clear damaged vehicles from the roadway. Due to the scale of the collision, traffic movement on the expressway was severely affected for several hours.
Emergency Teams Rush to the Spot
Police personnel arrived promptly, rescued injured commuters, and ensured their transfer to nearby hospitals. Authorities also began diverting traffic to prevent further accidents as visibility remained poor. The incident was later confirmed to have occurred near the Badalpur police station area, where officials continued rescue and clearance operations.
Visuals Reveal Extent of Damage
Visuals from the accident site highlighted the severity of the chain collision. A white car was seen mounted on the central divider with its bonnet completely crushed. A truck was stationed nearby, while another car appeared trapped underneath a heavy vehicle, indicating that several vehicles may have rammed into each other sequentially. Police stated that reduced visibility due to dense fog likely prevented drivers from spotting vehicles ahead in time, leading to the pile-up.
Police Investigation Underway
The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate confirmed that police teams were present at the scene and had launched an investigation into the incident. In an official statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, the Commissionerate said necessary actions were being taken. However, officials added that details regarding the exact number of vehicles involved and the total number of injured persons were still being verified.

The Eastern Peripheral Expressway, also known as the Kundli–Ghaziabad–Palwal Expressway, is a six-lane, 135-kilometre-long corridor that passes through Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. It serves as a crucial route for traffic movement around the National Capital Region. Due to the accident, traffic on this vital stretch remained disrupted for hours, causing inconvenience to commuters.

Dense Smog and Poor Air Quality Worsen Conditions
The accident occurred as residents across Delhi-NCR woke up to dense smog that significantly reduced road visibility. Poor air quality further compounded the situation. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board, Noida Sector-125—located close to the expressway—recorded an Air Quality Index of 449 at noon, indicating severe pollution levels. Authorities urged motorists to exercise caution while driving in such conditions.
Safety Advisory for Commuters
Police advised commuters to avoid high speeds and maintain safe distances between vehicles, especially during early morning hours when fog and smog are prevalent. Officials also recommended using fog lights and checking weather and traffic updates before heading out.
