Amid the intense conflict in Israel, a second group of 235 Indian nationals, which even includes two infants, arrived in New Delhi on Saturday morning as part of ‘Operation Ajay.’ The arrival was a heartwarming moment as Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, personally greeted them at the airport.

Operation Ajay Brings 235 Indians Return

“#Operation Ajay is working tirelessly to bring our citizens back home. The second flight, carrying 235 fellow citizens, touched down in New Delhi. Minister Ranjan Singh was there to welcome them,” the Ministry of External Affairs proudly posted on social media.

Singh expressed his satisfaction with the swift response from the Government of India through #OperationAjay and @MEAIndia, which ensured a smooth and coordinated return. He shared this sentiment in a heartfelt post on social media after receiving the group.

Before their arrival, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had shared pictures of the flight carrying 235 Indian nationals, which departed from Tel Aviv at 11.02 p.m. on Friday.

‘Operation Ajay’ was initiated by India on Thursday to facilitate the safe return of its citizens in specially chartered flights, given the ongoing violence in Israel after brazen attacks by Hamas on the nation.

India Covers Return Costs

The first flight, carrying 212 Indians, took off from the Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel on Thursday and arrived in New Delhi on Friday morning. It’s important to note that the Indian government is covering the expenses for the return of its nationals.

To keep a vigilant eye on the situation in Israel and Palestine, the Ministry of External Affairs has established a 24-hour control room in the national capital.

According to data from the Israel embassy, approximately 18,000 Indian nationals are residing and working in Israel, with diverse professions ranging from caregivers and students to IT professionals and diamond traders.

The conflict has resulted in a tragic loss of life, with more than 1,300 people losing their lives in Israel and over 1,530 people in Gaza.
