In an unexpected turn, Gujarat in Ahmedabad faced tragic losses due to unseasonal rainfall, claiming the lives of twenty individuals in lightning strikes across various regions. The State Emergency Operation Centre confirmed these casualties, with the fatalities occurring in different districts due to lightning amidst the Sunday downpour.

Amit Shah, expressing deep sorrow, offered condolences and highlighted the ongoing relief efforts by local authorities. The rainfall, impacting 234 out of 252 talukas, disrupted normal life, causing substantial crop damage in several districts.

Industry Hit, Rain Eases

Beyond the human toll, the rain affected the ceramic industry in the Morbi district and led to temporary closures of factories. The India Meteorological Department anticipated a slowdown in rainfall, focusing on specific parts of south Gujarat and Saurashtra districts.

This unusual weather pattern stemmed from a cyclonic circulation over the northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining regions, as stated by the IMD bulletin.

While the communities grappled with these challenges, the solidarity of locals amidst sudden showers in Rajkot offered a glimpse of resilience amid adversity.
