Born on 25 September 1972 in Delhi, Major Gaurav Arya is a writer, and blogger and has been a consulting editor for strategic affairs. , He was also a public Speaker and an ex-serviceman, who served in the 17th Kumaon Regiment, from the year 1993. He showed interest in public issues and topics such as national security, Kashmir issues, militant Islam, etc.

It has been 17 years since Arya left the military service, but he is very much patriotic toward the nation.

In 1992, Gaurav Arya earned an honors degree in history from Delhi’s St. Stephens College. And then, in 1993, Arya cleared the SSB exam, joined the Indian Army Short Service Commission, and completed the training in Chennai at Officer Training Academy OTA.

Gaurav Arya is born into a well-reputed family. It was found that his father was an IPS officer of the 1960 batch. However, apart from this, not much information is available about his family.

GAURAV ARYA CAREER

Major Gaurav Arya in 1993 was recruited as a Second lieutenant in the Indian Army after passing the SSB Examination. Then, he was named as one of the servicemen in the 57th short service commission.

Also, during his career, in an article published in Swarajya, it was reported that Arya recalls passing by Hindu College on his way from Stephen’s to Hansraj, where he met Arnab Goswami for the first time.

Arya began his training under the Jessami Company administration at the Officer’s Training Academy in Chennai.

He served with the 17th Kumaon Regiment in various operational areas after his training, including Kashmir.

In 1996, during the time in the tribal place of Lahaul and Spiti area, once posted there, Arya fell off a hill and ended up getting buried under snow. He was rescued later by his battalion but he suffered many injuries and faced health issues.

Arya retired from the Services by opting for voluntary medical reasons in 1999 after serving in Indian Army Services for five years.

Gaurav did an MBA in Marketing and sales after his retirement and transitioned into the Corporate World later. Arya was also associated with several administrative Positions in corporates like Wipro, HCL, Hutch (now Vodafone), Spice Retail Ltd, Ernst & Young, Smart Group, and Sterea Infratech Ltd.

He then joined Republic Media Network as a Senior Consulting Editor of Strategic Affairs in March 2017 where he wrote several blogs related to topics based on the national defense security of India.

DEBUT ON TELEVISION

Arya in 2016, published an open letter on the social media giant criticising individuals who protested Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani’s death. Arya was also subsequently invited to talk on Times Now news feature ‘News Hour’ hosted by Arnab Goswami.
