Man Hit by Hammer, Criminal Caught after crash in Delhi

The crime got exposed when the man crashed  into a parked car in Dwarka, leading to his arrest and the rescue of the male victim.

A 25-year old man brutally beat his former girlfriend’s current boyfriend with a heavy hammer on his head, and got caught after crash into another car. The attacker, Sahil Kumar, worked in Delhi Jal Board and lived in West Delhi’s Tilak nagar with his girlfriend. But in January 2023 she left him and started living with Dimpey Rawat, 24, who works at a shop.

While he was driving through Dwarka Sector 3 at around 2.30pm, he banged into a Maruti WagonR parked outside an eatery.

Police mentions that the incident happened on June 30, when Sahil  called Dimpey to meet him in his car (Maruti swift dzire) at around 1:30 pm in Tilak Nagar on a pretext. After that Sahil hit Rawat’s head with a hammer inside the car knocking him unconscious and believing that Rawat is dead he decided to dump the victim‘s body into a canal or drain somewhere in Dwarka.

Sahil hid Rawat’s bloodied head with a cloth, and started moving towards the outer route of Dwarka to find a suitable dumping spot. He was at Dwarka Sector 3  when at around 2.30pm, he banged into a Maruti WagonR parked outside a restaurant. The owner of the restaurant, Amit, tried to stop  the car. Sahil tried to run by reversing his car, but could not because of the traffic, Amit tried to stop him. 

When Amit saw something like a human body in the back seat, and on seeing the hands of the body moving, he called the police. Officers took the body immediately to the nearest hospital, and arrested Sahil in an attempted murder case.

Police reports said that  further details of the incident  will be recorded once the victim comes in a better condition to record his statement. Police highlighted that there is no evidence as of now which makes connection with the woman.
