‘Baby, I Love You’: Objectionable Texts Sent by Delhi Ashram Director to Female Student Revealed in FIR Amid Molestation Probe

Amid a growing molestation investigation at a private management institute in Delhi, a 21-year-old scholarship student has come forward alleging that the accused, 62-year-old Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Swami Parthasarathy, sent her inappropriate text messages commenting on her appearance.

According to the FIR accessed by The Indian Express, the student first interacted with Chaitanyananda last year when he was the chancellor of the institute. She alleged that during their first meeting, the accused looked at her “weirdly” and later sent her messages of a sexual nature. One message reportedly read, “Baby, I love you. I adore you, you are looking beautiful today,” while other texts complimented her hair and appearance. The woman claimed he even tagged his previous messages in new ones to compel her to respond.

When the student reported the messages to the associate dean, she was allegedly advised to reply. The woman further alleged that similar communications were circulated among other female students at the institute, creating a hostile environment.

The FIR also highlights that Chaitanyananda targeted students from economically weaker sections and subjected them to harassment and trauma. Several students were allegedly coerced into accompanying him on foreign trips, where he demanded private meetings in his room during late hours. Those who resisted were threatened with the withholding of their degrees and important documents.

The FIR names the associate dean, Shweta, along with two other individuals, as accomplices in the harassment. Threats of suspension, rustication, and even forced name changes were reportedly used to intimidate students into compliance.

Investigations revealed that the first alert regarding Chaitanyananda’s misconduct came from an alumnus on July 31, who informed the institute management of the sexual harassment. Soon after, complaints reached the institute from the Indian Air Force headquarters, as many students belonged to Air Force families. A Group Captain from the Directorate of Education in the Air Force sent an email highlighting the harassment and threatening messages received by students.

The case involves 17 students from the institute, which is run by the Sri Sharada Peetham in Karnataka’s Sringeri. Police reports indicate that Chaitanyananda, who served as the chairman and sanchalak of the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management, specifically targeted students admitted under the EWS quota, using promises of foreign trips as a lure and threatening exam failures for non-compliance.

Authorities have formed multiple police teams to apprehend him and issued a lookout circular to prevent his escape. The National Commission for Women has also taken suo motu cognisance of the matter. The FIR was filed under sections 75(2), 79, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for sexual harassment, insult to modesty, and criminal intimidation.

Chaitanyananda was reportedly aided by three women wardens who pressured students to obey his demands and delete incriminating messages. He is an author of 28 books with endorsements from prominent personalities, but this is not his first allegation; previous molestation complaints were filed against him in 2009 and 2016.

During the current investigation, statements of 32 female PGDM students with EWS scholarships were recorded, 17 of whom described receiving obscene messages and unwanted advances. Police have seized a Volvo car with a diplomatic number plate and lodged a second FIR. Despite being traced last to Agra, Chaitanyananda has been frequently changing locations to avoid arrest, avoiding mobile phone usage, and living in Delhi as the caretaker of the institute for the past 12 years.
