President Smt. Droupadi Murmu Presented with Coffee Table Book – ‘Baba and Me’ Celebrating Ustad Bismillah Khan!

In a heartwarming event on the morning of November 6, 2023, at 11 am, Her Excellency Smt. Droupadi Murmu was presented with the very first copy of “Baba & Me.” This unique coffee table book provides an extraordinary glimpse into the life of Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan, as seen through the eyes of Dr. Soma Ghosh, a Padma Shri awardee.

Previously, the book had been officially released by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji. However, unforeseen circumstances, like the COVID-19 pandemic, have delayed the book’s journey.

The event took a momentous turn as it celebrated the formal book release of “Baba & Me” for the entire nation. This special occasion was marked by a Press & Media meet, made possible with the strong support of IGNCA (Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts) and Prabhat Prakashan. The release function was graced by a gathering of dignitaries, including esteemed personalities such as Shri Shri Sadguru Dayal, Rishiraj, Head of Operations at DMRC, Shiv Shankar Pandey, Political Advisor to the Government of Uttar Pradesh, V. B. Tripathi, Dr. Rajneesh, Navneet Saigal, Rai Bahadur, Hemant Sharma, Atul Upadhyay from Reliance, Sanjay Rai from Aaj, Shantanu Chakraborty, and many others.

To pay tribute to the legendary Shehnai maestro, a short docu-drama film titled “Yaad-e-Bismillah,” created by Shri Subhankar Ghosh, was screened during the event, adding a touch of artistry to this unforgettable day.

The “Baba & Me” coffee table book and the event have come together to honour the legacy of Ustad Bismillah Khan, a shining star in India’s cultural history. This extraordinary celebration was a beautiful reminder of the power of art and culture to unite and inspire us all.
