4 Arrested For Parading 2 Women Naked, Sexual Assault In Manipur

4 arrested by Manipur police on 20 July, for parading two women naked and assaulting them sexually on 4 May

The Manipur Police arrested four people on July 20 for parading two women naked, sexually assaulting them on May 4 in Kangkopi district


N Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur said that the four accused, the main culprits have been nabbed in the case of sexual assault and parading two women naked in Kangkopi district on 4 May. The authorities stated that this is the highest crime, a crime against humanity. After seeing the viral video of the incident, massive outrage sparked over the country. Police of Manipur has compiled a case of gang rape,sexual assault,abduction and murder and handled the incident with seriousness. A deep concern has been expressed by the Union Minister Smriti Irani who has assured that no efforts will be left out to bring Justice to the two women.

The case has been registered at Saikul Police station by the 65-year-old chief Thangboi Vaiphei of B. Phainom village, who claims that a third woman was gang-raped during the same incident. The case has been registered under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.
