250 CCTV Cameras, AI Surveillance: Delhi Police’s High-Tech Security Grid for INDIA Bloc’s Ramlila Maidan Rally
Delhi is preparing for extensive security arrangements ahead of the INDIA bloc rally scheduled for November 1, 2026, at Ramlila Maidan. With thousands of political workers and supporters expected to gather, Delhi Police security has been strengthened through advanced surveillance systems, AI-enabled cameras and extensive crowd management measures. Around 200–250 CCTV cameras, AI-powered face-scanning technology and dedicated monitoring control rooms will help authorities monitor the gathering. The rally, organised by the Congress-led INDIA bloc, is focused on demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Delhi Police Deploys 250 CCTV Cameras for INDIA Bloc Rally
One of the most significant features of the security arrangements is the installation of approximately 200–250 high-definition CCTV cameras across Ramlila Maidan and its surrounding areas.
These cameras will cover important locations, including entry and exit points, public gathering areas and other strategically selected locations. Live camera feeds will be monitored through dedicated control rooms, allowing police officials to observe crowd movement and respond to potential security concerns.
Apart from fixed CCTV cameras, police personnel will also use body-worn cameras, while surveillance-equipped vehicles will provide additional monitoring support.
The extensive camera network is designed to improve visibility across the venue and help authorities coordinate security operations throughout the rally.
AI Surveillance and Face-Scanning Technology Strengthen Security
Artificial intelligence will also play an important role in the security arrangements for the INDIA bloc rally.
Delhi Police will use AI-enabled cameras equipped with face-scanning technology to monitor people in and around Ramlila Maidan. The technology is intended to support surveillance and assist officers in monitoring the gathering.
Temporary monitoring facilities and dedicated control rooms will help coordinate information received through the surveillance network.
The combination of CCTV cameras, AI-enabled systems and body-worn cameras represents a technology-supported approach to managing a large political gathering in the national capital.
Around 3,500 Police Personnel to Handle Crowd Management
Considering the expected turnout, Delhi Police has planned a substantial deployment of security personnel.
Around 3,000–3,500 police personnel are expected to be deployed at and around the venue. Additionally, 10 companies of reserve forces will be available to support security arrangements.
The entire Ramlila Maidan venue has been divided into 14 security zones. Each zone will be supervised by an officer of Assistant Commissioner of Police rank to ensure better coordination and effective crowd management.
Senior police officers will oversee the broader security arrangements and coordinate with different teams throughout the event.
Authorities are preparing for approximately 50,000 attendees, while Congress leaders have claimed that the rally could attract a much larger gathering.
Priyanka Gandhi Reviews Preparations at Ramlila Maidan
Ahead of the November 1 INDIA bloc rally, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited Ramlila Maidan to review the preparations.
She was accompanied by Congress organisation general secretary K C Venugopal and party MP Pawan Khera.
During the inspection, preparations for the main stage, seating arrangements, tents and barricades were underway. Separate arrangements were also being made for leaders representing different INDIA bloc parties.
The rally is expected to bring together opposition leaders and party workers from several states.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also appealed to citizens, students and civil society groups to participate in the gathering.
Why Is the INDIA Bloc Organising a Rally Against Gyanesh Kumar?
The INDIA bloc rally is being organised to raise concerns about alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision process, particularly the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Opposition parties have questioned aspects of the Election Commission’s functioning and raised concerns about the inclusion and deletion of voters from electoral rolls.
The alliance is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, making the issue a central focus of its November 1 demonstration.
The allegations and concerns raised by opposition parties are contested political claims and are not established findings of wrongdoing.
The Congress-led protest is also part of a broader political campaign highlighting questions surrounding electoral transparency and democratic processes.
Entry Restrictions and Emergency Evacuation Arrangements
Delhi Police has introduced several entry and exit arrangements to regulate the movement of attendees.
Out of the eight gates at Ramlila Maidan, only three will be open for general public entry. Separate gates will be designated for VIP movement and senior police officials.
Attendees will undergo two layers of security checks, with baggage-screening equipment, metal detectors and barricades forming part of the arrangements.
Police have also prepared emergency evacuation routes to facilitate the safe movement of people if an unexpected situation arises.
Organisers have been instructed to arrange adequate volunteers, drinking water and separate toilet facilities for women. Details of volunteers, invitees and buses transporting participants have also been sought.
Traffic Diversions Announced Around Central Delhi
The large gathering is expected to affect traffic movement in several parts of central Delhi.
Delhi Traffic Police has announced restrictions and possible diversions between 10 AM and 5 PM on November 1.
Areas around Delhi Gate, ITO, Rajghat, Ajmeri Gate, Turkman Gate and Minto Road may experience traffic regulation depending on the situation.
Commuters travelling through central Delhi are advised to check traffic updates and plan their journeys accordingly.
