Ranbir Kapoor Faces Heat For Eating Non-Veg Amid Sattvic Diet Claim For Ramayana

Ranbir Kapoor lands in controversy after viral video shows him eating non-veg despite claims of following a sattvic diet for his Ramayana role.

Ranbir Kapoor Faces Backlash: Eating Non-Veg Amid Sattvic Diet Claims For Ramayana Role Sparks Debate Online

Ranbir Kapoor has found himself at the center of a heated online controversy once again. A newly surfaced video contradicts previous claims that the actor had completely adopted a sattvic lifestyle while preparing for his role as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited film Ramayana. Earlier reports suggested that he had stopped consuming non-vegetarian food and alcohol and had embraced meditation, disciplined fitness routines, and an early-to-bed lifestyle to embody the spiritual persona of Lord Ram. The narrative quickly gained traction and was appreciated by his fans, who felt his dedication reflected the sanctity of the character.

Viral Video Challenges Previous Claims

However, things changed when a recent video from Dining With The Kapoors, released to commemorate Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary, went viral. The footage shows the entire Kapoor family gathered at a dining table while Armaan Jain serves Fish Curry Rice and Junglee Mutton to the guests. Ranbir is visibly seated beside Neetu Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Rima Jain and others—sparking immediate uproar online.
Many viewers claimed the video exposed an alleged false PR narrative portraying Ranbir as someone who made major sacrifices for the spiritually revered role. The clip rapidly spread across social media platforms, generating heated debate and criticism.

Netizens Slam Publicity Strategy

Online users reacted strongly to what they called misleading and unnecessary public relations tactics. One trending comment read, “Ranbir Kapoor’s PR team claimed he gave up non-vegetarian food out of respect for playing Lord Ram but now he is seen enjoying fish curry and mutton. Fire your PR.”
Another critic wrote, “PR teams should research past videos before building excessive and dramatic narratives. Nobody asked them to claim the actor quit non-veg and alcohol. Now they are facing avoidable backlash.”
For many, the issue was not about his personal food choices but the alleged attempt to emotionally influence audiences by linking diet habits to devotion and character preparation.

Ramayana Film Continues To Draw Massive Attention

Despite the controversy, excitement around Ramayana remains high. The film features a stellar ensemble with Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Kannada star Yash will portray Ravana, while Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey will appear as Hanuman and Laxman. The cast also includes Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodri and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, along with Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha and Indira Krishnan in key roles.
Reports suggest that the editing of the first installment has already been completed, and fans are eagerly waiting for the announcement of the trailer and release date.

Can Ranbir Rise Above The Controversy?

This is not the first time Ranbir Kapoor’s PR strategies have been questioned. While some believe that personal lifestyle choices should never be used as promotional tools, others think the controversy may fade as soon as the film’s marketing begins. With Ramayana being one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema, all eyes will now be on how the actor and his team handle public perception in the coming weeks.

Public opinion remains divided—while many express disappointment, others argue that an actor’s diet should not overshadow a cinematic legacy. Whether the discussion affects the film’s reception remains to be seen, but the debate has undoubtedly intensified public interest.
