TikTok India Relaunch Rumours: What the Company Says About TikTok Launch in India

TikTok India launch rumours spark excitement, but company and government confirm no comeback yet. Here’s what’s happening with TikTok India.

TikTok India Relaunch Rumours Explained: Company and Government Clarify TikTok Launch in India Speculations

TikTok India has been banned since 2020, leaving millions of fans in the country disappointed. Recently, however, there has been a surge in speculation regarding a potential relaunch of the popular short video app. Many users reported being able to access the TikTok website after a long hiatus, which fueled widespread curiosity and optimism about the platform’s return. Despite this temporary access, the reality of a full TikTok India comeback remains uncertain.

The excitement around TikTok India’s possible relaunch began when users noticed the official website opening without requiring a VPN or other network tools. While this sparked conversations on social media and news outlets, the TikTok app itself is still unavailable on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in India. This discrepancy has caused many to reconsider the likelihood of an imminent return.

TikTok India Launch Rumours Debunked

Despite growing interest in the TikTok India relaunch, the company has clearly stated that there are no plans to restore the app in India at present. A spokesperson told TechCrunch, “We have not restored access to TikTok in India and continue to comply with the Government of India’s directive.” This statement has reassured authorities and clarified that the temporary website access does not indicate any official comeback.

The reappearance of the TikTok website is widely attributed to network-level misconfigurations. Similar incidents occurred in 2022 when some users inadvertently regained access due to operator errors. Such technical glitches are not uncommon and should not be taken as an official signal of TikTok India’s return.

Government Stance on TikTok India

The Indian government has also intervened to clarify the situation. Multiple reports cite government sources confirming that no order has been passed to unblock TikTok. “The Government of India has not issued any unblocking order for TikTok. Any such statement or news is false and misleading,” a government official told PTI. These remarks reinforce that TikTok India remains banned and that the platform’s access is strictly controlled under current regulations.

It is important to note that TikTok is not the only app under scrutiny. Other China-based apps, including AliExpress, were also briefly accessible on some networks. These platforms, like TikTok, were banned in India in June 2020 due to concerns related to sovereignty, national security, and public order. The Ministry of Electronics and IT has reiterated that these bans remain in effect and that users should not expect these apps to return without official clearance.

What Users Should Expect

While TikTok India launch rumours continue to make rounds online, it is clear from both the company and government statements that a comeback is not imminent. Fans will have to wait patiently and stay updated through official channels rather than relying on temporary access or social media speculation. Until further notice, the TikTok India platform remains inaccessible in the country.
