World Animal Day is observed annually on 4th October to celebrate the animal life in all its association with human beings.4th October is the Feast Day of ST Francis of Assisi- the saint of animals and environment.
The day is celebrated across the world irrespective of the religion, nationality political ideology or faith. In Argentina the day is celebrated as a tribute to Dr. Lucas Ignacio Albarracín’s death. Along with Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Dr. Lucas founded the Sociedad Argentina Protectora de Animales, also called the Argentine Society of Protection of Animals.
The tradition of celebrating World Animal Day started in Florence Italy in 1931.
