The fateful night unfolded as the Naokothi Police Station in Begusarai in Bihar received a tip about the alleged transportation of illicit substances. Responding promptly, a night patrol vehicle was dispatched to address the situation. Little did Inspector Chaudhary and his three Home Guard companions know that this routine operation would take a grievous turn.

Around 12:30 pm, under the vast night sky, Inspector Khamas Chaudhary positioned the police car strategically near the Chhatauna Budhi Gandak river bridge, preparing to intercept the suspicious vehicle. Accompanied by three dedicated Home Guard jawans, they stood united in their mission to ensure the safety and well-being of their community.

Fateful Evasion: Inspector’s Tragic Encounter

The tranquillity of the night was shattered when an Alto car, suspected of transporting contraband, came into view. The driver, sensing the imminent police check, made a fateful decision to evade capture. In a desperate bid to escape, the driver accelerated, pushing aside Inspector Chaudhary in the process.

The impact was severe, causing Inspector Chaudhary to collide with a stone, a moment that would forever alter the lives of those who knew and respected him. The force of the collision led to his immediate demise, leaving a void that no badge or uniform could ever fill. Alongside him, a Home Guard soldier bore the brunt of the incident, sustaining injuries that would necessitate treatment at Sadar Hospital Begusarai in Bihar.

In the aftermath of this heart-wrenching incident, Yogendra Kumar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Begusarai in Bihar, addressed the media, providing details of the unfortunate event. “Based on the information, a night patrol vehicle was sent. At 12:30 pm, to stop the car, Inspector Khamas Chaudhary was standing with the police car near the Chhatauna Budhi Gandak river bridge along with three other Home Guard jawans. Seeing the police car, the car driver increased his speed and hit Inspector Khamas Chaudhary, due to which he died,” expressed Kumar with a heavy heart.

The team, displaying commendable efficiency, managed to apprehend the owner of the vehicle involved in this tragic incident. Balasaheb Yadav, one of the Home Guard jawans on duty that fateful night, bravely recounted the events that unfolded. “A car came from behind and hit me… We were stationed at the Chhatauna Budhi Gandak river bridge. The incident happened at around midnight… A total of four people were on duty. Only I was injured, while Officer Khamas Chaudhary died,” he shared, his words echoing the harsh realities faced by those who stand on the front lines, guarding against the tide of illegal activities.
