Anshula Kant, managing director of SBI has become Managing Director and Chief Financial officer of World Bank. Notably, as MD &CFO, Kant will be responsible for the financial and risk management of the World Bank Group and will report to President.  Her appointment has made every Indian proud.  Her journey is a saga of focus and grit. Kant’s career at SBI

Anshula Kant joined the State Bank of India in the year 1983 as a Probationary officer.  Her commitment towards her work took her to the top, and she became the MD.  She was Deputy MD of operations for National Banking Group. In fact, she also served as a Chief General Manager of Mumbai SBI. She is the MD and member of Board at SBI since 2018. Notably, during her working tenure, the State Bank of India witnessed an improvement in its asset quality as gross non- performing assets reduced to 7.53 per cent of gross advances at the end of March 2019 against 10.91 per cent by the end of March 2018.

Why she was the best option?

Currently, she is in charge of stressed assets, risk and compliance. She even served as the CEO of the Singapore unit of Bank. Ms Kanta did a commendable job during demonetization. As CFO of State Bank of India, Kant managed $38 billion revenues and total assets of $500 billion.

Sneak Peek into her inspiring Journey

She has done BA Economics Honours Lady Shri Ram College. After that, she took MA Economics, from the Delhi School of Economics in 1981. Anshula’s husband is a Chartered Accountant. She has two kids. Her daughter is based in Singapore and son is based in the US . She is originally from Roorkee and moved to Varanasi after her marriage.
