Mizoram State Public Health Laboratory found the reddish turmeric powder ‘unsafe’. And therefore Mizoram Health and Family Welfare department has banned the import of reddish turmeric powder from neighboring state Myanmar.
Notification has been issued by State Commissioner of food safety Dr K. Ropari banning the turmeric powder locally known as ‘Aisen’.
According to notification, ‘Aisen’ was sent to the state Public Health Laboratory in Guwahati where it was found unsafe for the public. And the color that is used for its manufacturing was in violation of the food safety and standard Act, 2006 and Rules Regulations 2011.
