Airlines waive off charges due to Cauvery dispute

Due to the ongoing unrest in Bengaluru over the Cauvery water issue, various airlines have turned down the flight cancellation or change fees for a specific time period. Vistara Airlines has turned down its date and flight change fee from and to Bengaluru city for travel on September 13 and 14.

Jet Airways has also waived off the penalties for date change and flight change on the confirmed tickets to and from Bengaluru for September 12 and 13.

Cauvery river dispute

India’s National carrier Air India has also turned down its applicable penalties of re-issuance, date change, no-show, cancellation and refund charges for travel from and to Bengaluru and Hubli Airport for its both domestic and international flights on all tickets issued on or before September 13th.

With protests currently going on the division of Cauvery water dispute that mounted between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the Bengaluru Police on Monday imposed Section 144 of the CRPC, which states that maximum of only five people will be allowed to gather in a public place in the city.

Modifying the 5 September order, the apex Court on Monday asked the Karnataka Government to release 12,000 cusecs of water from the Cauvery river every day to Tamil Nadu till 20 September.

Earlier, it had directed the Karnataka Government to release 15,000 cusecs of water for 10 days as immediate relief to the farmers of Tamil Nadu.
